Next to me

Everything I do,
you’ll do it with me.
Everywhere I go,
you’ll come with me.
Never will you be left
in the dark wondering.

Looking Down On Us

By Jonathan Gonzalez | May 12, 2012

Every night I wonder
why the stars shine so bright,
how the oceans never end,
when the rain will return.

Every night I wonder
why the Earth is the perfect shape,
built as endless, limitless
as all of life is.

Every night I wonder
just how it came to be
that our lives crossed paths
with perfect symmetry.

Every night I wonder
how a guy like me
could be this lucky,
to fall into this endless rabbit hole.

Every night I wonder
how life can be so wondrous,
ever-changing like the weather,
full of spirit and color.

Every night I wonder
about why we were brought together:
like the roaring tides and the stars that shine,
it’s just how life’s supposed to be.

We’re the lucky ones

By Jonathan Gonzalez | April 29, 2012

Driving down the interstate,
windows rolled as far as windows roll,
flowing air brings in the good vibes
from the world and into our hearts.

As our lungs fill up
with words of our emotion,
we exhale beauty onto one another,
describing the most beautiful bond.

We’re the lucky ones
buried deep in our storybook world,
as others fail to see as we do,
that life is only to be prized.

Because anything less than
this love we have been given
would be robbery of the potential
we have for the most beautiful lives.

A weaker moment needs a stronger man

By Jonathan Gonzalez | April 27, 2012

I love the way your guard falls down into my lap,
for me to hold while I witness the beauty you possess,
in every story, every word, that I’m lucky enough to listen to,
when your heart opens up and you let me inside.

Tusk

By Jonathan Gonzalez | April 20, 2012

Sitting high in your tower,
your words fall down onto the
ground where you have placed me.
And I’m sure you’re not the worst.
No, not even close,
but I like to think you are.

Golden Rule

By Jonathan Gonzalez | April 19, 2012

Instant reactions can be infamously dangerous.
The things we say with a lack of patience.

Words spin back around and spend a lifetime
buried deep into your shoulder blades,
slicing at the irrelevant mistake
of failing to hold your tongue in place.

Never quite cautious,
I always speak my mind,
but I will continue this peace,
even during war time.

Are we there yet?

By Jonathan Gonzalez | April 9, 2012

I can almost hear the music playing
as I wait for your arrival.
A tear-shedding moment
is sure to follow.

I can almost see your reflection
on the train window,
as we soar throughout
the world around us.

I can almost hear you laughing
as you decorate the dinner table,
with a glass of wine,
as you watch me create.

I can almost transcribe
the late-night conversations
about everything that we’ve done
and all that lies ahead.

I can almost hear your calming tone
reminding me to breathe
while I work away at editing
the final scene.

I can almost see
the children playing
in the backyard as they
spin around endlessly.

I can almost see myself waking up
beside your body,
with love in our hearts,
hand in hand.

Spoiled Silly

By Jonathan Gonzalez | April 6, 2012

There I was,
without all that I have learned.
It’d be too hard
to head back now.

Spoiled silly
with late night laughs
and pretty eyes that never waiver
when I find them.

And you don’t know
how lucky I feel
to awake in a fairy tale
every day.

And you don’t know how
amazing this all is,
to know everything
is going to be okay.

Actually, I think you do.

Luna

By Jonathan Gonzalez | April 6, 2012

The moon is glorious,
almost full tonight.
It brings the winds that float
among the palm tree leaves.

The most peaceful sound
in the most peaceful light.
A surreal blend of stars
and clear purple skies.

The temperature is cool
atop this second story balcony,
but I’ve lucked out
with your warm embrace tonight.

A month has passed
but our love was stated from the start.
I’m looking forward to many more
celestial nights with you.
