Your pencils, my trick tracks

By Jonathan Gonzalez | October 12, 2012

Why is it we can’t seem to
catch a break
with our hands open
and desperate in disguise?

When all we ask for
is an extension in a series
of hours we happen to be present
around one another.

But not a single worry arises
when I open these eyes
to see the path we lay down
piece by peace.

To our three, four or seven.
Our fights and make ups.
Our travels, our laughs.
Your pencils, my trick tracks.

Three silly words lack fulfillment,
Meaning, answers, feeling,
Thoughts, laughs, smiles
To what it really is.

Minus You

By Jonathan Gonzalez | October 1, 2012

Our Earth circles and solves.
It spins and dissolves time
into infinite particle matter
we breathe.

I can no longer believe
in a planet minus you,
in a life minus you,
in a love minus you.

Terribly hard to describe
to those who will listen.
Perfectly effortless
while we reminisce.

Unprecedented.
I don’t know if ill ever
figure out how you cast this spell.
I know I like what I’m under.

Still Believe

By Jonathan Gonzalez | September 25, 2012

I await the cold autumn nights
hidden underneath the sheets
while we calm the storm
or create one.

Know

By Jonathan Gonzalez | September 10, 2012

To say I’m anything less than lucky
would be a fabrication of the life I live,
my life with my head in the galaxies.

Because I hold in my hands the greatest thing
and I’ll protect it until the day my life cannot continue,
with a smile and a warm heart the entire way.

Bring on the Fog

By Jonathan Gonzalez | August 26, 2012

I can sense the sun collapsing
behind the endless silhouette
of a mountain due for its autumn dew.

Months of hot air prepares for winter skies
Acid pours out of skin,
gets absorbed in the mind.

Bigger forces are at work
to cool the planet,
rid heat’s cancer from its people.

Patience is Learned

By Jonathan Gonzalez | July 14, 2012

Crunched eyebrows are softened by the sound
of water crashing, waves collapse on sandy beaches peacefully,
before the water is sucked back in to an infinite cycle
of traveling the world through the seas.

And yells across the way get carried by the wind
over to the man who looks for peace every day.
A struggle to return to who he knows he is,
as the call for joy exhales into the sky.

The irony of a man looking for his key,
as it’s found by a stranger buried underneath the sand below.
Good people are everywhere
and I’ve found my one, the only person I need.

Unprecedented emotion overcomes me when I think,
about all I have acquired in such a short amount of time,
But the oceans never change, as the waters circle back,
the only thing that connects all the lands.

Forehead Kisses

By Jonathan Gonzalez | July 6, 2012

So much love released into a kiss, like so many
before tonight and the ones the future will bring our way.
Our path is hardly laid out for us.
We carve the road ahead like a river through a canyon.

So much is not certain about that the life that we will hold,
unlike the knowledge we possess about the love we care to share
with each other, as others watch in awe about what they see,
that storybook love can be recreated, but somehow better.

Forehead kisses reserve a moment to stop, to think, to breathe
about all we have surrounded ourselves with.
A flowing positivity, floating on limitless possibilities,
of which our potential will take advantage.

And the moment I release,
as your eyes look up to see
mine glare into yours,
sure of everything.

My Life

By Jonathan Gonzalez | June 24, 2012

My life is for you,
a promise that often
goes unspoken,
as it should.

For promises are
rarely kept in tact,
especially those
which are repeated.

But my promise is simple:
a life of joy, smiles in the morning,
laughs at night, a dance in the evening,
an end to our fights.

A life with never ending challenges,
the entire world for our eyes,
but I will show you, not speak about, how
my life is for you.
